Hi all,

I am looking to desiging a device that wirelessly receives date and
time information and was wondering if this data is available from
cellular network providers? I'm afraid I am not well versed in the
subject of GSM networks so this may be a stupid question! I realise
that GPS signals provide time information but the device in question
may be inside and therefore unable to receive a satellite signal.

Thanks!

Hi,

many GSM netwoks support the NITZ (Network Identity and Timezone)
feature, especially for the case of packet data (GPRS), but some may
also support the feature in the basic CS registration phase (i.e. power
on). Any decent GSM device (say, not more than 3-5 years old) should
support the feature aswell.
