Portable Amplifier for Blackberry Bold on AT&T GSM?

I am using a Blackberry Bold on the AT&T GSM network near San Jose,
California. This network is AWFUL. Every phone I have used drops calls,
drops parts of calls, and alternates between high quality and low quality.
I have the same problems at home, while in car, and at office. Calls to
AT&T fix nothing. Is it possible to buy an amplifier for this phone?
I'm looking for a device I could place in the home, office, and car that
would pickup any local cell signals and boost them, both incoming and
outgoing.

What options do I have?

Are you on contract? Phone locked?

If not, can you try T Mobile?

I'm on contract and I would like to try to make AT&T work.

I doubt that any cell phone company is much better. They are all crooks
who underinvest in their network and try to push for absolutely marginal
quality (just barely enough so we don't throw the phones away). I don't
expect anyone else to be any more honest than AT&T.

Maybe you should talk to them about the reception?

I am only a frequent visitor to west coast USA from Australia, but San Jose
I am sure is a big enough market for AT&T to have a good or potentially good
client base?

Maybe they are not aware of the problem?

I have called them at least six times with no result.

I have changed out the phone with no result.

I have tried other models of phones with no result.

I get the same bad reception at home, on the road, and at the office.

Again, my question in this thread is does someone make an AMPLIFIER.

Sure it does however I doubt they're legal in US (if you care).

One of those with external antenna (on the roof) would certainly help
and in car you can use for example Bury antenna coupler with external
antenna.
